Established in 2011 Region: Tuscany - Province: Grosseto - Grape:Sangiovese.

Wine Characteristics: Wines Denomination of Controlled and Guaranteed Origin "MontecuccoSangiovese" when released for consumption must have the following characteristics:

  • color: ruby ​​red;

  • smell: fruity and characteristic;

  • Taste: harmonious, dry, slightly tannic;

  • title alcohol by volume minimum Total: 13.00% vol

  • minimum total acidity: 4.5 g / l;

  • minimum non-reducing extract: 25 g / l.


"MontecuccoSangiovese" with the mention reserve:



  • color: ruby ​​red tending to garnet;

  • odor: vinous large, elegant, characteristic;

  • Taste: full, dry, warm, elegant, with any hint of wood;

  • title alcohol by volume Minimum Total: 13.50% vol .;

  • minimum total acidity: 4.5 g / l;

  • minimum non-reducing extract: 26.0 g / l.


PRODUCTION

The production area of ​​ grapes for the production of wines of Denomination of Origin Controlled and Guaranteed "MontecuccoSangiovese" include land suited to the quality and suitable for growing vines in the territories within the province of Grosseto in the following municipalities: Cinigiano, CivitellaPaganico, Campagnatico, Castel del Piano, Roccalbegna, Arcidosso and Seggiano. The wines of Denomination of Origin Controlled and Guaranteed "MontecuccoSangiovese" must be produced from grapes grown in the production area indicated above and from vineyards which have the following composition: Sangiovese: at least 90%. They can be used to produce these wines alone or in combination, up to a maximum of 10%, the red grapes, from other varieties suitable for cultivation in the region of Tuscany, with the exclusion of MalvasiaNera, MalvasiaNera of Brindisi and Aleatico


WINE PROCESS

The grape’s maximum yield into the finished wine must not be greater than 70%.

Wine Denomination of Controlled and Guaranteed Origin "MontecuccoSangiovese" can not be put on the market before 1th April of the second year following the year in which grapes were grown, without prejudice to the mandatory minimum aging period of twelve months in wood barrels and four months in bottle.

Wine Denomination of Controlled and Guaranteed Origin "MontecuccoSangiovese" with the mention reserves can not be put on the market before 1th September of the third year following the year in which grapes were grown, without prejudice to the mandatory minimum aging period of thirty months, which twenty-four months in wood barrels and six months of aging in bottle. The aging period shall begin from November 1th of the year in which grapes were grown.


BOTTLING

The bottling must be made within the province of Grosseto.


MARKETING

The wines of Denomination of Origin Controlled and Guaranteed "MontecuccoSangiovese" must be released for consumption only in bottles of Bordeaux or Burgundy types and content  not more than 6 liters closed with satin mouth cork stopper.
